How does StrumTube extract chords from a YouTube song?
We analyze the video audio using pitch and harmony detection: we separate the harmonic layer, estimate the key and tempo, and map each bar to a chord with its timestamp. The result is synchronized with playback.
Does it work for ukulele as well as guitar?
Yes. Every chord includes diagrams for 6-string guitar and GCEA ukulele, and you can switch instruments without losing your place in the song.
Can I change the key or use a capo?
You can transpose the song semitone by semitone, and StrumTube suggests which fret to put the capo on so you can use simpler open shapes.
Do I need to read sheet music?
No. You work with chord diagrams and a bar-by-bar timeline just follow whichever chord lights up.
Is a tuner included?
Yes, the chromatic tuner uses your device's microphone and shows the deviation in cents for guitar and ukulele.
